The meaningful Blood Donation Day in Fushan

Nearly 300 Fushan employees participated in the voluntary blood donation activity on October 26, 2023, collecting 209 units of blood. The meaning of the Blood Donation Day does not only stop at the received blood but in the solidarity spirit of all Fushan Technology Vietnam’s employees also.

On the morning of October 26, 2023, Fushan Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. coordinated with the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the Bac Ninh Red Cross Association to organize the Fushan Blood Donation Day.

This is the 2^nd blood donation program held in Fushan since the 1^st time in 2019. According to the initial schedule, the blood donation program would be held in September, however, due to a lack of blood storage bags, so the program was postponed. At 6:00 p.m. on October 24, 2023, Fushan received information that on October 26, an office canceled the blood donation schedule, so blood donation could be held at Fushan on that day. From the time of receiving information to the time of event, Fushan only had more than 1 day to carry out preparations, from calling employees to register, carrying out design, communication, preparing facilities, manpower.

Luckily, this comeback event attracted a lot of attention from employees. Although the time was relatively rushed, 290 people registered to donate blood and 209 blood units were donated successfully. Among them, many employees are foreigners, many are employees of vendors working at Fushan, many come from other Foxconn sites and especially, many employees have donated blood more than 2 times.

 “As soon as I received information about the Blood Donation Day in September, I immediately registered because I found this activity very meaningful. I has also donated blood several times before. When donating blood, I hope I can save someone's life. I want to contribute my small part to society" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan - EMSVN Warehouse shared at the event.

Like Ms. Hoan, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai - Ensky VN MM shared: "Today I am very happy to participate in this program. This is the 4th time I have donated blood. Donating blood is very meaningful and I hope everyone will join to help those in need."

Mr. AlexHPHuang - DMS PQM was the last person to attend the blood donation event on October 26. He shared: "In Taiwan I donated blood more than 30 times, each time 500 ml. This is my 1^st time I donate blood in Vietnam. I thought the event would take place all day, but when I learned that the event only took place in the morning, I tried to have a quick meeting to be able to attend this meaningful event."

According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), each year it is estimated that Vietnam needs 1.6 million units of blood. Although the amount of blood increases every year, it still cannot meet the demand for quantity. Experts say that if each donation is less than 1/10 of the amount of blood in the body, it will not harm health. Besides, donating blood also has many benefits such as helping to stimulate the body's ability to create blood, improve cardiovascular health, reduce the risk of liver disease and cancer and create a comfortable and happy spirit for the donor.

We do hope that this is the good start for our factory CSR activities and there will be more events in the further, in which the blood donation event will be strongly spread, becoming an annual activity in Fushan to inspire hope and life for those who really need help with timely blood supply.
